The Boyd is a geological feature (the Boyd Rocks), a tramping hutt (the Boyd Lodge) and an airstrip on the tussock valley of the upper Ngaruroro River.  It's an easy way to refer to the roadless territory lying west of the Kaweka Range, east of the Kaimanawa Range, and north of Ngamatea Station.  I've been making occasional flights into this area ever since gaining my wings in 2000 and most forays have resulted in some photographs. However, the conditions on 8 July 2007 were so fortuitous that, for the moment anyway, only photographs from that flight are featured.  Heavy overnight snow was followed by a perfect dying southerly, it even managed to happen on the weekend.
