Except for the Wairoa picture all of the photographs here were taken on a single flight on 4 June 2007. Portland Island features heavily. While it's not far away it's rarely seen, being hidden by the peninsular, lying below the horizon, or cloaked in weather. Apart from locals who still farm it only those who fish or fly or sail past it really get to see the island properly. |
