For those not familiar with Hawke's Bay the 8 kilometre (5 mile) long Ocean Beach is the nearest sandy surf beach to Hastings and Napier, and the most unspoilt. Like the Maungaharuru and Te Waka ranges with their proposed wind farms, Ocean Beach is a place that needs recording before it is subject to irrevocable change. The adjacent run-holders have various residential development plans for the beach and, in short, most of the current coastal property issues are present, writ large. Those who are following the issue will know a lot more about it than I do so the pictures are presented without further comment. |
