At 5,655ft (1724m) the Kaweka Range has the third highest peak on the east coast of the North Island: Hikurangi to the north of Gisborne is 100ft higher and Mangaweka in the Ruahines is 30ft hgher.

This collection is devoted to the familiar eastern flank of the range as it is seen from Napier and Hastings. The south and the west of the range is covered in in the Boyd and Ngamatea collections.
